Hoarding sample sizes, best products for travel, and what not to pack

5 items in my carry-on

I always carry these 5 items in my carry-on (apart from the obvious essential items of passport, medicine, money/credit cards, travel docs, iPhone)

1. Magazine, Swedish grammar book, and iPad loaded with my favorite beauty magazines (Allure and Vogue).

2. Backpack to carry the essentials and reading materials.

3. Noise-cancelling headphones for long haul flights or earbuds (plus backup pair for just in case one stops working)

4. Beauty bag: in a ziploc bag I usually have with me lip balm, lipstick or lipgloss, facial mist, sample sized moisturizer, sample sized serum, sample sized toothpaste, toothbrush, body lotion, hand sanitizer, handwipes. 

5. Socks.
